Offroad Expeditions is proud to offer to the discering hunter hunts in Mongolia for Altai Argali Sheep & Altai ibex. This hunt is offered as a combination hunt. They take place in the Altai Mountain Ranges in western Mongolia.
This ram will be all display at the Dallas Safari, Club show as well SCI and FNAWS in Reno.

Al Kuntz (MN) took this great Altay argali in 2002, 59 1/2 x 21 1/4 and 253 SCI.



While hunting you will usually stay in a yurt. These yurts are heated and have 4 beds in each. You will sleep in a yurt along with fellow hunters, while the guides and other staff stay in their own. On occasion you may stay in a spike camp depending on the situation of your hunt. In these camps you can expect mostly western type food but perhaps a taste of Mongolian cuisine for the full experience.

Cost an Dates

This hunt is offered as a 15 day-s arrangement in Mongolia, including 12 days of actual hunting. The hunting season runs from July 1 - October 15. The cost of the hunt is $50.000.00US and the non-hunter rate is $5.000.00US.

Packege price includes

15 - day arrangements in Mongolia including: interpreter guide, domestic flights, ground transportation, tranfers, meals & accommodations in city and hunting camp, 12 full days of hunting, license & trophy fee for one Altay Argali Sheep. Not included in the price is, your international airfare, China stopovers, any additional fees (see below), Mongolia/Chinese visa's are also not included but will be obtained by the outfitter and will cost an additional $180.00US.

*Note: Your passport must be good for at least 6 months after your hunting dates.

Trip itinerary:

Day 1: You arrive in Ulaanbaatar from Beijing on a Mongolian ar Air China flight. Here you will be met by an English-speaking guide and transferred to a hotel where you wiil overnight.


Day 2: You will have a three hour flight from Ulaanbaatar to Hovd, a small town in West Mongolia. Once there you will be trancsferred to the hunting camp by a 4WD jeep. The drive is about 5 hours. Once in camp you will prepare yourself for the next day.


Day 3-14: You will hunt for these 12 days for one Altay Argali Sheep and One Altay Ibex.


Day 15: Drive back to Hovd. Stay overnight.


Day 16: 3 hour flight back to Ulaanbaatar. Here you will be transferred to a hotel and complete all legal trophy documents.


Day 17: Depart for Beijing on Mongolian or Air China flight.


Hunting Conditions & Methods
The days at this time are generally nice, however towards the middle of October the morning and evenings can be cooler. Be prepared with some warm attire. You will be hunting in rocky and hilly country, good hiking boots are important. the most predominant method of hunting is the spot and stalk, method. Therefore good binoculars and a spotting scope is a must. Shots can range anywhere from 100 - 300 yards. The hunting can be done from 4WD or by horses and on foot, depending on the terrain.


Deposits :
A 50% deposit on the balance of the hunt to Off Road expeditions. is required to confirm your booking. The balance is then due at least 60 days prior to the actual hunt dates.
