Day-1: Arrival in Ulaanbaatar
On arrival in Ulaanbaatar, the Capital City of Mongolia, you will be greeted at the airport and transferred to the hotel. After lunch, we will take a city tour that includes a visit to the Dinosaur Exhibition Hall at the Natural History Museum and also to Gandan monastery. Dinner will be served at the History Club restaurant, which offers wonderful performances of heavenly melodies on the horse-headed violin and some traditional throat singing called “khoomii”. We will be staying overnight in a 5-star hotel.(L,D)
Day -2: Flight to Khuvsgul Lake from Ulaanbaatar
Today we will fly to the alpine lake Khuvsgul surrounded by castle-like mountains and transfer to a tourist camp on the shores of the lake. (B,L,D)
Day-3:Stay at the Khuvsgul Lake
Today we will stay at Khuvsgul Lake for a day. It is an opportunity to go horse riding along the lake-shore, swim in the cold and clean water of the lake and to visit to the tepees of the reindeer-herders. We will be staying overnight in the Ger tourist camp. (
Day-4: Khuvsgul Lake---Ider River
Today we will set off on our journey from Khuvsgul Lake to the Ider River. On the way, you can see the special deer stones ensembles of “Uushigiin Uvur”, the biggest tomb found in Mongolia, which dates back to the Bronze Age. We will stay overnight in a tent on the bank of the Ider River. Swimming and fishing is possible, at your own choice. (B,L,D)
Day-5: Ider River----Terkhiin Tsagaan Lake National park
Today, we will drive to the Terkhiin Tsagaan Nuur National Park, one of the most beautiful freshwater lakes surrounded by volcanic craters. It was formed by lava flows from an eruption thousands of years ago. On the road before we pass through the mountains, we will make a stop to see the ruins of the Northern Buddhist Temple, and on the other side of the mountain we will pass the human-shaped stones of the Turkic age. Wooden carts are still used in the province just like they were during Chingis Khaan’s time.(B,L,D)
Day-6: Terkhiin Tsagaan Lake National park-----Tsenkher hot spa
Today we will stop at the wonderful natural resort of Khorgo, with beautiful scenery such as mountain cliffs, rivers with rapid streams, lakes, an extinct volcano, green woods and pastures. The Chuluut River flows through the deepest rocky canyon that emerged as a result of the eruption due to tectonic activities. The Tsenkher hot spa offers a health spa for tourists and local people. We will have a chance to visit a wonderful local ethnographic museum in the provincial center before stopping at the hot spa. We will stay overnight in a Ger tourist camp at the Tsenkher hot spa. This is the ideal place to take a hot bath in natural hot spa water and relax after a full-days journey.(B,L,D)
Day-7: Tsenkher Hot Spa----Water Fall
From the hot spa, we will hit the road towards the waterfall “Ulaan Tsutgalan” of the Orkhon River. The Waterfall cascades into the canyon which is 22m deep. Here we can hike on the nice flowered mountain area with beautiful scenery. During the trip we may see many yaks in their natural habitat, an enormous bare mountain area, where the most hospitable nomads live. We will stay overnight in “Gers” beside the waterfall and hike along the Orkhon river tectonic canyon. (B,L,D)
Day-8: Water fall---------- Guchin Us Steppe
This day will be filled up with visits to historical sites such as KharaKorum, the ancient capital of the Mongolian Empire in the 13th century. The imperial site of the Kharkhorin was located on the right bank of the Orkhon River and on the north-eastern slopes of the Khangai Mountains. Event though Kharkhorin had existed for 40 years, it had been the capital of the Empire for only 32 years. At this site we will visit Erden Zuu Monastery, built on the ruins of the ancient Mongol capital. (B,L,D)
DAY -9: Guchin-Us Steppe ---Khongoriin Sand Dune
Today we will head towards the Khongoriin Els Sand dunes which are the largest sand dunes in Mongolia and a picturesque spot. Around midday, we will have our lunch in a place at the Tevsh Uul Mountain where it is possible to see rock drawings that date back to the Neolithic period. We will pass through the incredible gorge of the Altai Mountain Range as well as the saxual forests with a lot of camel herds. We will be staying overnight in a tourist camp next to the “Khongoriin Sand Dune”. (B,L,D)
DAY -10: Khongoriin Sand Dune-Yoliin Am
Day 10 is a day full of fascinating views at the Yoliin Am National Park, one of the most beautiful places in the Gobi Desert. On hot summer days, we will enjoy the gorges filled with ice, unique flora and wild animals such as wild sheep, and ibex. There will be a chance to visit a local Natural History Museum with dinosaur bones and eggs. While leaving the park, we will cross a very narrow gorge named “The Dungeree Am”. (B.L.D)
DAY -11: Yoliin Am –Ongi Monastery (remains)
On this day, we will head for the Ongi Monastery. Shortly after the take off, we will come to the “Flaming Cliffs” canyon, where, in 1922, Roy Chapman Andrew found over 100 dinosaur bones and eggs (fossils). Furthermore, we will stop at the volcanic area where you may take photos of the extraordinary landscape. There will be an overnight stay in a tourist Ger camp near the ruins of the monastery. (B,L,D)
DAY -12: Ongi Monastery (remains)- Ulkhiin Bulan (Tuul river)
Day 12 is time to experience the genuine nomadic life at Ulkhiin Bulan (Tuul River). Herds of thousands of white tailed gazelles inhabit in this area all year round. A rock inscription that was made by a decree of Tsogt Taij, the last descendant of the Mongolian Royal Dynasty, can be seen in this area. Our tents will be set up on the bank of the Tuul River. Here you may learn about the life of the local nomads. If you wish, you may go fishing or horse riding. (B,L,D)
DAY-13: Ulkiin Bulan (Tuul river)--Ulaanbaatar
After our adventurous and fascinating travels, we will head back to Ulaanbaatar. Just before we reach the city, we will visit the Khustai Nuruu Natural Reserve where the wild horses, known as Przewalski horses, have been reintroduced to their ancient homeland. We definitely should not forget to visit the Neolithic rock drawings of the “Ikh Alag “Mountain and the human-stone tomb of the Turkic era that was created about 2700 years ago, on our way to Ulaanbaatar.
On arrival in Ulaanbaatar, we will check into the hotel, followed by the opportunity to do some shopping before a farewell dinner. (B,L,D)
DAY -14: Checking out from the hotel and departure to the airport. (L.)
